The vault · Accounts and passwords

Your accounts and passwords. In the right hands when it matters.

Email, banking, social media, subscriptions and crypto. Most people have more accounts than they remember – and no list. In oldr's vault you gather what is needed and decide who gets to see what. No one can access the contents until it is time.

Without a plan

This is what happens to your accounts when you die

Your accounts do not disappear when you die. They remain until someone closes them – and that is hard for those closest to you if they do not know which ones exist.

  • Subscriptions keep charging until someone cancels them.
  • Every service has its own process. Google, Apple and Meta have their own legacy features, and banks handle accounts through the estate.
  • Many services do not allow anyone else to log in with your details, even if they have your password.
  • Cryptocurrency without keys is lost. Without the private key or recovery phrase, no one can access the assets.

With one overview, those closest to you know what exists, what matters and what you want to happen with each account.

How the vault works

Three steps, then the vault takes care of itself

  1. Gather

Add accounts, passwords, important documents and keys to digital assets. Write instructions for each item: keep, close or hand over.

  2. Choose recipients

Decide who gets to see what. Your partner can get the banking, and a child the family photos.

  3. Released at the right time

Once the death is registered with the Swedish Tax Agency, each recipient gets what you chose for them – and nothing else.

What belongs in your vault

Start with what would be hardest for someone else to find. You do not have to do everything at once.

Common questions

About accounts and passwords after a death

What happens to my accounts when I die?

They remain until someone closes or changes them. Those closest to you have to contact each service separately – much easier if they know which accounts exist and what you wanted.

May my relatives log in with my passwords?

Many services' terms do not allow anyone else to log in with your details. Use the service's own legacy feature where one exists. The vault shows which accounts exist, how they should be handled and who should do it.

Can oldr read what I store in the vault?

No. The contents are encrypted end to end, so oldr cannot read them. Only the recipients you have chosen get access – and only when it is time.

How does oldr know when to hand over the contents?

The vault is released when the death has been registered with the Swedish Tax Agency.

What happens to cryptocurrency when someone dies?

Cryptocurrency is part of the estate like other assets. But without the private key or recovery phrase no one can access it, and the assets are lost forever.
